RBAN dan Budaya Baca
Pendirian rumah baca, kantong baca, taman baca ataupun pojok baca mempunyai tujuan yang mulia. Salah satu tujuannya adalah menciptakan budaya baca di masyarakat. Indonesia mempunyai tingkat budaya baca yang memperihatinkan, berdasarkan study “Most Literred Nation in the world 2016”, minat baca di Indonesia menduduki peringkat 60 dari 61 negara.
Kondisi inilah yang mendorong Rumah Baca Anak Nagari (RBAN) terus bergerak berbuat sekecil apapun demi merealisasikan tujuan yang mulia tersebut.
Menggelar lapak baca di fasilitas umum seperti taman kota merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menebar virus pentingnya budaya baca di masyarakat, selain menggelar lapak baca mingguan RBAN juga berusaha memperbanyak koleksi bahan bacaan dengan mengimbau para donatur buku untuk mengirimkan buku-buku mereka ke RBAN melalui program FCL (Free Cargo Literacy) dari PT. Pos Indonesia sehingga setiap bulannya di tanggal 17 para donatur buku bisa mengirim buku ke RBAN secara gratis.
Hasilnya di tahun 2019 hingga pertengahan februari ini RBAN telah mendapatkan donasi buku sebanyak 25 kali dengan jumlah buku hampir 700 buah.
Sry Eka Handayani, MP.d sebagai pengelola RBAN mengatakan bahwa ” tumpukan buku-buku yang penuh di rak RBAN menjadi perangsang bagi anak-anak untuk datang ke RBAN hanya sekedar membaca di RBAN ataupun meminjamnya untuk di baca di rumah, sungguh pemandangan yang menyejukkan”.
RBAN merupakan salah satu rumah baca yang ada di perbatasan antara kota Bukittinggi dan kabupaten Agam yang telah memberikan warna baru bagi masyarakat setempat khususnya bagi anak-anak, semoga RBAN bisa terus bergerak berbuat sekecil apapun juga untuk mewujudkan budaya baca di masyarakat sehingga menciptakan generasi-generasi literat di ranah minang khususnya dan di Indonesia umumnya.
